The Los Rios Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault that happened at the Folsom Lake College Rancho Cordova Center on April 12.

According to the LRPD, the attack happened on the sidewalk across the street from the campus on El Caprice Drive around 2:34 p.m.

The unknown suspect walked up from behind the victim and then proceeded to shoot him with a firearm, according to the LRPD. The suspect then left the scene towards Mather Blvd.

A district-wide Rave Alert bulletin that went out on April 13th described the suspect as an adult black male who was wearing a gray hoodie, blue pants, white shoes and a hospital type mask over his face.

The incident did not involve any Folsom Lake College students or employees and did not happen on the college district or property.

In a statement via email from Kristy Hart, Folsom Lake College’s communications and public information officer, she reassures Folsom Lake students and employees about the incident.

“The facility was fully closed at the time of the incident, due to the ongoing COVID-19 campus closures, and no students or employees were on campus at that time,” Hart wrote. “As this is an ongoing investigation by the Rancho Cordova Police Department, we cannot provide any additional information than what was included in the bulletin.”
