The Los Rios Police Department arrested a student near the parking structure at Cosumnes River College on Wednesday for an on-campus weapon violation.

The incident prompted the LRPD to send out a district-wide Rave Alert at 5:46 p.m. warning students and staff to avoid the parking structure area, and that police were responding to the incident.

The LRPD sent out a second alert shortly after the first, informing students that the incident had been resolved and that the campus was secure.

Kristie West, CRC’s Public Information Officer, spoke to the Current through email and said that the safety call was made because of an off-campus dispute and after an investigation, the LRPD discovered a weapon in the suspect’s vehicle.

According to West, the suspect did not have any weapons on him and did not pose a threat to the campus at the time of his arrest. The suspect was subsequently booked at the Sacramento County Jail.
