For college students, stress is a constant presence, especially when midterms roll around. Between exams, essays and late nights studying, students find themselves running on empty. That’s why ASB’s Karaoke event aims to offer a much-needed break and help students recharge.
The American River Associated Student Body will be hosting a karaoke midterm mic drop event in the student center’s community rooms on Thursday, Oct. 23, from noon to 4:00 p.m.
ASB senator Eliza Coronel, who planned the karaoke midterm mic drop, describes the goal of the event as “aimed to destress and boost the mood on campus.”
The event will be spread across all four Community Rooms, with each room featuring a different theme, including K-pop, Disney, 2000’s and around the world. This gives students the chance to choose their atmosphere, whether they’re in the mood to perform or just enjoy watching their classmates take the mic.
ASB is partnering with Pacific Dining to provide snacks and drinks for the event.
In addition to promoting relaxation, each room will have an ASB member there to inform students on registering to vote for the upcoming special election on Nov. 4.
“Great time for ASB senate members to get acquainted with the rest of the student body, so the students know who is representing them,” Coronel said.
With music, food and a sense of community, the ASB karaoke midterm mic drop aims to remind students that even during the most stressful parts of the semester, there’s always time to take a break and to have a little fun along the way.
