An institutional equity plan town hall was held on Feb. 24 for Pride Center students in order to get input on how American River College can better support its students.
The Pride Center town hall is one of many to come in an effort to address any issues that traditionally underserved ARC communities may face.
Steven Roberson, the associate vice president of student services and equity at American River College, is the co-lead of the Institutional Equity plan work group. This work group will sit down with various student communities at ARC in order to learn what the campus can do to improve its equity plan and ensure that students get the support they need to have a successful educational experience at ARC.
“We are sitting down with various stakeholders of the campus community. So, for you, I want this to be personal. I want this all to speak to you as members of the PRIDE community,” Roberson said to the meeting’s attendees.
The work group will continue to hold meetings with other student communities at ARC through March 2, and will also put out surveys that students can respond to address any issues that they may have. Once the town hall sessions have been closed out, the work group will create a draft for a new and revised institutional equity plan.
