The ARC women’s volleyball team played host to Santa Rosa but were far from hospitable with them as ARC beat the Bear Cubs 3-0, improving their record to 8-5.

Katelyn Meyer showed amazing hustle making saves diving for the ball on several occasions, while playing with what appeared to be an injured quad.

Freshman Mary June Ubag kept Santa Rosa off balance with her solid serving and exposing weak sides and finding good scoring openings.

Brianne Whitt made setup passes for ARC’s scoring machine Dani Schoen, who made it seem personal as she spiked ball after ball showing that every backcourt scoring opportunity would be taken with dominating intentions. ARC took the set 25 to 13.

The second set started off right where the first one left off, as Tate Dobbins gave Santa Rosa the best chance to climb back in the game with her scoring attempts, but Sophomore Madison Hunzinker’s defense made it difficult for Santa Rosa as the Beavers confidently won the second set 25-9.

The cheering section, consisting of Adam Lopez and the other members of ARC’s very talented football team, blew the roof off the gym with every score.

“They come out and support us every game so of course we ain’t about to miss a chance to show them that same support! We all got love like that,” said Lopez regarding the players of the women’s volleyball team.

That support must have given quite a boost to ARC, because outside hitter Candice Reynoso served up fireballs with precision and gave ARC eight unanswered points to start the 3rd set. The beavers finished off Santa Rosa in convincing fashion taking 3 straight matches with the final one ending  25 – 21.

With another win in the books, the women’s volleyball team will face off against Modesto on Wednesday.
