On Sept. 9, the American River College Associated Student Body voted to unanimously approve Bill F22-04.

The bill will provide up to $7,000 to support programming, and supplies and bring awareness to Voter Registration Day and ARC Club Rush Day, both of which will take place on Sept. 20, as well as Constitution Day, which was held on Sept. 15.

“Constitution Day is a very important day and something we’re in support of. We want to make sure we recognize these days and consider them important,” said Nicole Nugent, ASB senate president. “We want to support and make sure there are enough resources and supplies to make it as successful as possible for our student population on campus.”

Another newly passed bill, AB 963, will require that all community colleges require student organizations to provide resources, programming, and more to increase student participation in civic engagement and voting in the upcoming November election.

On Sept. 20, voter registration packets will be handed out to students who registered to vote and the non-partisan group, League of Women Voters will be on campus, with the purpose of encouraging students to vote.
