American River College has added more food and beverage options on campus for students.

Both Sacramento’s locally owned 5 Sips Coffee and Steve’s Pizza opened on Sept. 26 to serve students and faculty. Both are located in the Student Center.

This comes after the spot previously occupied by Starbucks that was left vacant since March 2020, when the college was forced to move its classes online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

5 Sips’ hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. They offer beverages such as coffee and tea. Forgot to eat breakfast? They will serve pastries, and bagel sandwiches for their breakfast option. For lunch they will serve potato salad, pasta salad, and croissant sandwiches. 5 Sips in the future plans to offer vegetarian options as well.

Steve’s Pizza’s first day of serving students was September 27in the Student Center Cafeteria. They will be open Monday-Thursday’s from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to ARC Communications and Public Information Officer, Scott Crow, 5 Sips hopes to add vegan and gluten-free choices later.

Steve’s Pizza plans to expand its menu in the future as well by adding wings and possibly fries. As for now, they will begin serving pizza and drinks.
