Lisa Cardoza, president of American River College, will share a little bit of her story with the ARC community on Oct. 11 at noon in the Student Center.
A short film, “ARC: River Tales: Dr. Lisa Cardoza,” will be shown and afterwards, she will answer questions and give faculty and students an insight to who she is.
“I’ll be there to answer questions,” Cardoza said. “Just share more personally who I am as an individual and a leader.”
Cardoza says she could stay behind her desk and answer emails, which she says is important, but she believes it’s also important to be out and about with the students.
According to Cardoza, she wants to share who she is with students and faculty.
“Just living the life I’ve lived, it’s a lot of lessons,” Cardoza said.
The talk is one of many efforts Cardoza says she is making to connect with the community.
On Oct. 9, Cardoza marched in the Indigenous people day parade.
“I look at Beaver Bites [for activities] and show up [in] as many places as I can,” Cardoza said.
According to Cardoza, if there is a play, function, activity, etc. that students would like to have her attend, they may contact her so that she can add it to her calendar.
“I just want to be proactive and show up for our community,” Cardoza said.
The short film is also available to be viewed on YouTube.
