American River College will continue to provide free parking for students during the fall 2022 semester. Fee-based parking has been suspended since March 2020, when COVID-19 forced the Los Rios Community College District to begin classes exclusively online.

According to Scott Crow, ARC’s public information officer, parking permits are not required for students during the current semester, but students still need to park in the designated student parking spaces.

“We’re glad to have students back on campus. We encourage [students] to follow basic guidelines and take advantage of parking that’s best for them,” Crow said. “Go to the stadium or the parking garage.”

With more than 40% of ARC students returning to campus this fall, attention to parking regulations is critical.

In addition to heeding pedestrians, students should note that unauthorized use of loading zones, walkways and spaces designated for disabled parking may induce fines.

All vehicles illegally parked may be subject to towing, according to the Los Rios Police Department.

“There isn’t a plan for student parking fees to be reinstated on campus,” Crow said.

According to Crow, students can visit the WayFind page on the ARC website for a map of the campus.
