Battery in student center results in suspension

A battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a student in the American River College Student Center on Wednesday afternoon resulted in the suspension of a student.

The suspect was not arrested by police because he “was not on the scene once (campus police) arrived,” according to Sgt. Mike Olson of the Los Rios Police Department.

“The suspect has been suspended pending a student discipline investigation and our department is still investigating the fight itself,” added Olson.

While Olson wouldn’t reveal the identity of the attacker or the victim, he did confirm that they were ARC students who were “acquainted with each other in some way.”

The Current will update this story as more information becomes available.
