The new video game, “Ghost of Yōtei”, was officially announced with a trailer on Sept. 24, 2024. “Ghost of Yōtei” is an action-adventure, role-play and fighting game developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the same developer who made “Ghost of Tsushima”. “Ghost of Tsushima”, released in 2020, was nominated for Game of the Year back in 2020, but did not win.
“Ghost of Yōtei” is said to be the sequel to “Ghost of Tsushima” with the plot and gameplay being entirely different. “Ghost of Yōtei” officially released on Oct. 2 for PlayStation 5 gamers to buy. I was one of the gamers who also happened to buy the game that very day.
“It’s a true love letter to classic samurai films, with stunning visuals and direction, a fantastic soundtrack, and a story that will have you gripped from the outset and surprise you with its twists and turns,” said Richard Seagrave in a review posted on Game Spew.
The plot of the game takes place 300 years after the “Ghost of Tsushima” where gamers play the main protagonist, a female character named Atsu. Atsu is a lone mercenary seeking revenge for her family’s murder by the ruthless Yōtei Six, a gang of outlaws who devastated her village 16 years earlier.
Everything will be newly developed, which means that graphics and gameplay will be highly refined. According to many reviews, gamers can expect it to be entirely improved since “Ghost of Tsushima”.
“”Sucker Punch” had the difficult task of improving on a game some might consider perfect. Not only did they complete the task, but made it look effortless with “Ghost of Yotei”,” Oscar Gonzalez said in a review posted on CNET, “The game has all the same great elements that made the original so enjoyable, yet improved on practically every aspect with hardly any flaws.”
The game has definitely been improved with many different aspects from the previous game “Ghost of Tsushima”. For example, gamers can go through the character’s memories and can learn to do more than perfecting the character’s skills.
Users can also interact with different missions and people, which helps progress with the character’s upgrades and the journey itself. There is much more to look forward to in the game.
I personally feel that this game has improved on its visual effects, since this game came out on PS5 instead of the PlayStation 4 like “Ghost of Tsushima”.
A big thing for me in games is always the music, so the fact that the music flows with the scenes almost made me feel like I was watching a film rather than playing a game. This made the game entertaining and kept me more engaged to find out what will happen next.
I suggest that gamers who have the PS5 buy the game and give it a go. It is truly worth playing if gamers love to live for the plot of a game.
