Go paddle boarding

Paddle boarding is a fun summer activity where you can enjoy the outdoors, while also staying cool. There are a few places in the Sacramento area where paddle boarding is an option. Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma are good areas where you can take your own paddle board or a rented one. The Sac State Aquatic Center offers the use of paddle boards that range from $11-16 per hour.

Tickets range anywhere from $65-95 per show, but discounts are available to those who buy tickets to more than one show.

Visit a Museum

Even though students may want to take a step back from school, it doesn’t hurt to keep learning by visiting Sacramento area museums. Dive into the rich history in our state such as Sutter’s Fort or the California State Railroad Museum among many others. Adult admission to the railroad museum is $12 and adult admission at Sutter’s Fort is $5.

Go to a River Cats game

Enjoy a day game or a night game under the stadium lights at Sutter Health Park and cheer on the Sacramento River Cats. Tickets range from about $12-69. Midtown Sacramento holds a farmers market every Saturday. You can find many things such as fresh produce, flowers and homemade crafts and products. It doesn’t cost anything to go to the farmer’s market, you only have to pay for parking and what you find at the market.

Have a picnic

Gather some friends and family and make lunch or grab your favorite food. Take it to your favorite spot, maybe a park. Don’t forget to bring a blanket to sit on. Other fun activities during the picnic may include listening to music, playing games, making crafts or just having conversation.

Go on a hike

For those who are active or love the outdoors, going on a hike is a good option. It may be a good idea to go on a hike earlier in the day when it is cooler and be sure to pack snacks and drink lots of water. There are many places to hike around the Sacramento area such as the American River. Just outside of Sacramento are some rural areas to hike such Placer and El Dorado counties.

Starting out at Top Golf is a good way to learn how to swing a club and to get your ball to a target. Face off with friends and see who scores the most points. Prices range from $37-60 per hour per bay depending on what time of day you go. This can be split up among however many people are playing at a bay, the maximum is six.
