A model casting is being held for American River College’s annual fashion show on March 11 in the Arts and Science building.

The casting will run from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in room 105.

ARC’s fashion promotions students are facilitating the event along with their professor, Gail Russell.

“We’re looking forward to the casting as we do every year,” Russell said. “You can’t have a fashion show without models, and I’m very trusting in my students that it will be a success.”

This year’s show is called “Evoke” and will consist of designs from 17 student designers.

Professor Dianne Grant-Toscano is in charge of the collections and production class where the designers prepare and create their designs.

“We have a lot of designers this year, so lots of models are needed,” Grant-Toscano said. “Each designer will individually pick the models they want.”

Designers are seeking men, women, and child models of all ages and sizes to walk in the show.

Women are being asked to bring their own heels, and minimal makeup is asked of all models.

The casting will include signing consent forms, which must be signed by parents if the model is under the age of 18, and taking headshots and measurements.

Each model will also be asked to walk for the designers.

The fashion shows are student run and consist of four teams.

There is a show direction team, model committee, marketing team and a visuals team.

Fashion student Sam Collier is looking forward to the casting call, fashion show and his role as promotions instructor next year.

“I will be taking over the promotions class next year, so I look forward to that,” Collier said.

The fashion department will host the annual fashion show in May.
