Peet’s closes to make way for more diverse cuisine

Due to American River College students wanting more diverse food on campus, the Peet’s Coffee location in the Portable Village closed last Thursday and Indian Catering and Events opened in its place on Feb. 19, 2019. (Photo by Ashley Hayes-Stone)

As of Feb. 17, American River College no longer serves Peet’s Coffee, according to an email sent by ARC’s Public Information Officer Scott Crow.

Peet’s former location in the Portable Village is now home to Indian Catering & Events, which opened today.

According to Crow, ARC’s Food Services made the decision to close Peet’s in response to students’ requests for different food options on campus.

“Our students have expressed an interest in having diverse food options,” Crow wrote.

Indian Catering & Events is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and their menu offers halal food and vegetarian options.

The location is also currently only taking cash.

  1. Very bad decision, Peet was better than starbucks. Why just Indian food?
