“Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we’ve no place to go…” wait. Stop the presses. No place to go? Are you kidding? Maybe the “Let it Snow ” songwriter, Sammy Cahn, couldn’t find much to do in Hollywood the day he wrote that tune, but  come on, people, it’s the holidays in Sacramento. This city has plenty of great holiday theater and music to make even the Scroogiest (not a word-yet) among us do a holiday jig, spiked eggnog or not.

So, let’s explore the town, Sactown, that is, for all that’s glittery and bright this season.

Sacramento Theater Company is dishing up traditional holiday fare with its adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” playing Dec. 1- Dec. 24. “2022 Sacramento Waterfront Kwanzaa Celebration” is here. The California Black Agriculture Working Group invites you to experience a pan African holiday along the Sacramento Waterfront. Dec. 27, 11:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Free admission. Old Sacramento Waterfront, 1014 2nd St., #200, Sacramento, 95814.

The Stone Cold and the Jackal Holiday Show at the Punch Line is the place for holiday songs, comedy and audience participation. Dec. 18, 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. General admission is $49, the day of show is $52. 2100 Arden Way, #225, Sacramento, 95825. Box office: (916) 925-8500 or punchlinesac.com.

For a “very festive jazz-filled evening,” The Guild Theater is ground zero. A Very Special Christmas is Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 to $25. 2828 35th St., Sacramento, 95817. See Guildtheater.com for more information.

The Sofia, Home of B Street Theatre presents Irish Xmas in America. An evening of Irish music, song and dance. Dec. 20, 7 p.m. Tickets start at $33, plus a $7 fee. 2700 Capitol Ave., Sacramento, 95816. Box office: (916) 443-5300 or bstreettheatre.com.

Theater in the Heights, Citrus Heights, that is, brings you “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some).” Theatreintheheights.com promises a three-performer cast’s “madcap romp through the holiday season.” Dec. 9-24.
