As the spring semester comes to an end the time has come for many students to assess their academic progress. American River College has counselors available to answer questions students may have about their educational futures.

ARC’s Transfer Center is providing students with the ability to speak to outreach ambassadors for the University of California and California State University via Zoom.

Interim Dean Nisha Beckhorn has been working with ARC’s counselors to ensure students have available resources during this ongoing pandemic.

“We … provide a full calendar of appointments with over 10 different university representatives throughout the UC and CSU system,” Beckhorn said in an email to the Current. “This includes weekly appointments with a Sac State and UC Davis representative. We also provide a full calendar of transfer-related workshops open to any Los Rios student.”

These appointments will be ongoing through the rest of the spring semester at ARC. On May 3, at noon to 2 p.m., the Transfer Center will hold “What’s Next” for CSU Admitted Students through Zoom. This workshop will help students get assistance with their university transfer.

Beckhorn says the Transfer Center has been supporting students through this difficult time by offering most, if not all services online for students on their transfer student website. She says that students are able to schedule one-on-one appointments with counselors and discuss high-level transfer issues such as schedule accommodations or reviewing past courses for transfer.

The Transfer Center has a calendar that allows students to see when they are able to book these appointments and what colleges will be on the schedule for the upcoming appointment schedules.

The Transfer Center has developed an up-to-date Transfer Resource Directory, Transfer Virtual Resource Directory that stays current with resources and services from all nine UC’s, 23 CSU’s and several private/out-of-state universities.

To know more information as to when certain colleges will be available for appointment scheduling and upcoming workshops students can visit the transfer center events calendar. Students can reach the transfer center by checking the transfer student website for all services and resources. In order to reach a Transfer Center staff member, their email is  [email protected]
