An emergency lockdown message was sent out to Los Rios students, staff and faculty on Oct. 23 at 4:16 p.m., telling students at Cosumnes River College to “lock doors immediately, avoid windows, stay quiet and await further information.” A robocall added, “If not on campus, please avoid the area.”
According to Kristie West, public information officer for CRC, the lockdown occurred because Elk Grove PD were searching for a suspect involved in a car crash on Bruceville Road. The suspect fled the scene and ran onto CRC campus.
Gabe Ross, associate vice chancellor and communications and media relations at Los Rios, says after a brief search, the police apprehended the suspect and the lockdown was lifted at 4:37 p.m.
