Placer County residents came out to West Park High School in Roseville Saturday, May 10 to speak with a couple of coastal California Congressmen, Representatives Sam Liccardo of California District 16 and Jared Huffman from California District 2. The event was held in the athletics building with the support of Indivisible Roseville, Auburn, Nevada County, Strong Indivisible Seniors, and Democratic clubs and committees across Congressional District 3.
The town hall comes following a recent visit to Folsom by progressive Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), both goading current California District 3 Representative Kevin Kiley toward open debate.
As a first year Congressman, Placer County residents were introduced to Rep. Sam Liccardo of the 16th District, but may have recognised him from his previous role as the former mayor of San Jose.
With 12 years of Congressional experience in tow, Huffman was on the auditorium floor alongside Liccardo, offering the perspective of a veteran representative from California’s 2nd District.
Both Liccardo and Huffman spoke openly about their disdain for the capitulation by the Republican Party, but staying shy of taking direct pot shots at Kiley. Rather, the town hall was a chance for residents to express their concern for the current political state and ask what’s to be done.
