A female student from American River College was almost abducted when leaving campus grounds on April 14, according to the Los Rios Police Department.
The attempted kidnapping occurred near the ARC Stadium Parking Lot roughly between 4-4:30 p.m., according to the LRPD.
The student was walking to her car when she was approached by a male driver that ordered her to get inside his vehicle.
When the student refused his demand, the suspect retrieved a gun from his glove box and repeated the statement.
The student refused again and pulled out her phone to dial 911. Following the woman’s threat to call police officials, the male suspect fled the scene.
Kaitlyn Collignon, ARC’s public information officer, shared that the student never actually called 911 and hadn’t reported the incident until April 18.
The student had attended class and informed their professor about the given situation. The professor encouraged the student to file a report with the LRPD that same day.
In the report, the student described the suspect as a male Middle Eastern with light brown curly hair, brown eyes, a short beard and wearing a black long-sleeved shirt. The vehicle that the suspect was driving was a silver Lexus IS250.
There have been no official arrests and the investigation for the suspect is ongoing in the LRPD, according to Collignon.
