An American River College student was robbed at gunpoint by two men while walking toward the college on the Arcade Creek Trail near campus at 12:20 p.m. on Monday.

A police description included in a news bulletin emailed to students listed the suspects as a black male, 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, wearing a “black hoodie type sweatshirt,” and a Hispanic male with “severe acne,” 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds, wearing a red or gray hoodie.

Police say the victim was approached by the suspects while walking toward the college. One of the men brandished a “small handgun” and took the victim’s cellphone “after rummaging through her possessions.”

The suspects then fled toward Garfield Avenue.

ARC public information officer Scott Crow said that the incident is still “in the early stages of the investigation,” and that at this time there are few details, including exactly where on the trail the crime took place.

Crow urged those with information regarding the incident to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, which is handling the investigation, at (916) 874-5115.
